Habits vs Freedom — What’s best for you?

I know that some people fear adding structure to their lives because they worry it will restrict their freedom, hamper their ability to be spontaneous and creative. They usually say “routines are boring”, “habits limit your freedom, “we only live once”. And they give in to the short-lived indulgences and moments of laziness thus keeping on walking around in circles and not moving any closer to what they want to become.

But I am the opposite. As all of you know I’m a big-time reader, and the most impactful book I’ve ever read about habits was “Atomic Habits” and so I wanted to share a few lines with you first:

“Habits do not restrict freedom. They create it. In fact, the people who don’t have their habits handled are often the ones with the least amount of freedom.”

So shortly said yet so true. My hard Russian heart wants to say:

“Only lazy people think that routines and habits are limiting your life, spontaneity, and freedom!”

Moreover, I believe that when you implement structure and routine into your day you waste less time trying to figure out what needs to be done. And the time and energy that you save are yours to use in a spontaneous and creative way!
So I added structure into my daily life in order to maximize the quality of it and to be able to live in a content state because we only get one shot in life and I want to make the most of it. And as crazy as it sounds I am my most inspired and creative self when I work, wake up early, have a clear purpose and routines.

But what do you think? Do you have daily habits? Or do you prefer to go with the flow? Please share your opinion below!

I believe that having a growth mindset plays a key role in successful life
