When triggers are everywhere
How to feel freedom in a world of “buy this and you will feel good about yourself” madness?
How to handle the fact that we are so exposed to consumption triggers everywhere all the time?
Consumption triggers are tricky to manage, but I hope that the way I am handlining them can help someone out there!
Well, I personally handle it by always focusing on what I can do for myself that doesn’t include consumption.
For example: when we’re exposed to beauty products, the ones behind the ad want us to feel that we need the product in order to feel a certain way about ourselves. In order to feel beautiful, fresh, confident or similar.
So when I’m exposed to this I simply work on how I can feel all those things from within. Not from buying these products.
With walk outside, going to bed earlier or stretch for instance. I understand that might not make sense for others, but it totally does for me.
